What do you do when you just aren’t motivated anymore to keep working on your home business? How can you get your motivation back?
Working from home can be great but sometimes you just don’t want to get on with it. There are times when it all simply gets too much.
Reasons You May Lose Your Motivation

- You feel that your business is going nowhere and you are wasting your time.
- Things keep going wrong.
- You need to invest more money.
Ways To Get Motivated
Why Did You Choose To Work From Home?
Remind yourself why you made the decision to work from home. Was it the flexible working hours? Being there for your family? Not having to commute to your workplace? Maybe it was because you wanted to make a living doing what you love? Think about your reasons why you decided to work from home.
The Advantages Of Working From Home
Think about the many advantages to working from home. You can have more freedom with your lifestyle. You make the decisions for the direction of your career.
You are the one in control.
Networking With Others
You are not alone. Talk to other work from home business owners. They may have experienced the same problems that you are having and can offer their solutions and advice. Find Facebook groups to join and make connections. Look for home based associations in your area. Establish relationships.
Motivational Videos & Books
Reading motivational books and watching videos can be helpful and inspiring. It doesn’t need to cost you anything. I find there are many motivational videos and even recorded books on youTube. When I need motivation I listen to book recordings and videos while I work. Here is an example of a motivational video featuring some of the most successful people of our time:
Time Away From Your Office
It is important to have some time away from your work especially if you are alone most of the time. This can be difficult when your home office is only a few steps away and always there. Isolation can also lead to lack of motivation.
Make time to do things away from your office and spend time with other people. Volunteering at your child’s school or at a local charity. You could also get together with colleagues from your network.
If these ideas are not for you then maybe you could spend some time on a hobby.
Set some goals for yourself so that you can see where you are planning to go. Make plans and action steps. Achieving your goals will boost your motivation. It is a good idea to set long and short term goals.
Reward yourself when you reach a goal. You can choose the rewards for yourself depending on your schedule and other commitments. Some rewards could be lunch or coffee with a friend, a special outing with your family or something new for your office.
Get Enough Sleep
When you work from home it is so easy to just keep going late into the night and cutting in on your sleep hours. Your body needs to rest. You may be able to get away with less sleep for a while but it will catch up with you eventually.
If you are having trouble falling asleep then maybe stopping work an hour before bedtime (and doing something else) will allow your brain to unwind so that you can sleep without work tasks going around in your head and keeping you awake.
Do you work from home? Have you ever lost your motivation and how do you get yourself motivated while working from home?
